The painting invites you into the artists winter's zen, a magical forest, a place where you will feel welcome to be who you are. Leave the noise and cares of a busy life and enter a place of peace and rest. This quilt was heavily machine quilted and embellished with beads and Swarovski crystals, which symbolizes the gentle beauty and riches of simplicity. The edges were finished with blue thread. What lies ahead? Imagine life's journey as a long walk in a green pasture. You feel the cool breeze against your cheeks and watch the rabbits hop among the tall, green grass. You run, and you fall, and you stand up and run again. In the distance is a dense forest of evergreens. You walk past the river and over the bridge as you approach the trees. Fear and doubt surface because you cannot see what is ahead. You hesitate and pause. With one foot in front of the other, you bravely march forward secure in the knowledge that your long walk to the forest has prepared you for your journey "Through the Trees."

Three connected circles represent the body of ideas which inform our journey. Six pairs of commercial cotton fabric triangle appliques were fused and machine stitched over the background with gold thread. The quilt was heavily machine quilted with gold metallic thread and iridescent thread. The following words were free-motion stitched into the background: discoveries, explore, dream, health, blessed, freedom, friends, fearless, leap, fun, new, joy, hope, family, faith, travel, and magic. The edges were finished with variegated thread.
